Rofl, fitting image Bort! I thought that fast traxx was fairly ruined geartrain wise, or did you find another? I will kill minitread, one day... one day _________________ ( •_•)
You may not need to kill mini tread as such. It will be retired for a new frame that won't incorporate the tread armour. Might keep the robot name, haven't decided yet. I guess it will still have the fast traxx tread rubber on the wheels. _________________ Farnsworth - "I hate these nerds. Just because I'm stupider than them they think they're smarter than me."

Bort, you just made my freaking day.
- Discovered LiPo supremacy
- Bought stuff from HobbyKing
- EPIC DREDGED YOUR OWN THREAD
- Made a hilarious joke that made me think about boobies
- Doing *something* about a robot BEFORE the night before an event!

Yeah I know it's very unlike me...
But I've always been enthusiastic about beetles. The antweights are interesting me as well at the moment. Definitely considering going up to brisbane with the rest of the nsw entourage. As far as transport goes, with three different weight classes you could have babushka robots, or maybe more like a turducken http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turducken _________________ Farnsworth - "I hate these nerds. So my orders appear to have been shipped now. All in all only a couple of days between ordering and them being sent.
I won't count my chickens... (mostly coz I can't catch them) but quite happy with timeframe. I did have low expectations based on other peoples experiences with HK. _________________ Farnsworth - "I hate these nerds. Just because I'm stupider than them they think they're smarter than me."

That time frame is good, it's between when they say 'shipped' and it arrives that you should worry about, it can vary lots. _________________ ( •_•)

Oh. Awesome...
I presumed that it was now in the hands of parcel delivery companies (Hong Kong post etc).
Suppose I should start thinking about active beetleweight weapons soon. I'm thinking there's too many spinners as usual. Anyone got any non spinner beetle designs in the works? _________________ Farnsworth - "I hate these nerds. Just because I'm stupider than them they think they're smarter than me."

Flamethrower!!! you know you want to!
To be honest, I have not seen many effective designs apart from spinners and wedges (emphasis on 'effective'). About the only other good design idea is an electric lifter using a high power servo.

Lifter/Clamper combo like Sproing could be very effective in the smaller weight classes. Clamp, lift, stack, win _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

I definitely agree with you Aaron, there are some designs that would be quite effective in the smaller classes. Especially at this stage of the game (there are lots of stackable beetles atm).
Current toy beetle only has 450g or so left over after frame, drive, batts, controls. So unfortunately that rules out some weapon designs. _________________ Farnsworth - "I hate these nerds. Just because I'm stupider than them they think they're smarter than me."

So got both my Hobby King and Dimension Engineering deliveries. This means I can complete my second beetleweight now. Also opens up a few more weapon designs.

Just received another order of insect robot bits from HK.
Mostly HXT900, few other random servos, one of those keychain cameras that Jake had, small spektrum receivers. Basically enough stuff to make the bots I intend to take to brisbane.
Since I've decided not to bother with a feather I hope to have a decent showing for the ant and beetle divisions. _________________ Farnsworth - "I hate these nerds. Just because I'm stupider than them they think they're smarter than me."

Awesome, think you can handle hacking the servos or still need help? Jaemus worked out an even easier way to mod the towerpro ones. _________________ ( •_•)

Yeah I'll give it a go I reckon.
Though would like to speed mod, so any help from other people on that front would be appreciated. _________________ Farnsworth - "I hate these nerds. Just because I'm stupider than them they think they're smarter than me."
