*Free* R/C Aircraft Model Simulator

I mainly thought of Jeff J when I saw this (since I know he likes RC planes and things), but anyone who wants to crash (well, until you figure out how to fly them Wink )some RC AirPlanes (and Helicopters !) should check this out

http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html

Quite a nice RC Simulator for free. Lots of different types of funky aircraft to hoon about with, Choppers too and seems fairly realistic to me.. Pity theres no guns or opponents to dogfight with, but I guess RC Modellers usually dont do that sort of thing anyway..

Make sure you spend some time checking out the keyboard controls from the control's pull down menu for a quick start, (or RTFM).

Apparently if you want more control-realism, you can connect the "buddy box" output of your radio control Tx to your computer (through a little interface widget you have to buy, examples here.. http://search.ebay.com.au/_W0QQsassZbrutusn

It reminded me of why I *dont* like model aircraft though. As soon as your model dissapears into a tiny dot in the distance its no fun anymore.. Sad

In the sim you can hit the "C" key to change camera views to a closeup (but not in real life Rolling Eyes), and there seem to be a few other keys for Altimeter instruments (A) and other stuff..

Worth a look

Hey guy's just thought you'd like to know that you don't need to buy the transmitter buddy box hook up lead.

I haven't tried it but look at this http://www.heliguy.com/nexus/fmsinterface.html
