Hi Angus, What you are doing with the controller is basically OK, but you can't reverse the motors with just 2 transistors. You need an H-bridge that is able to reverse the voltage across the motors. You might want to think about one of the ant controller kits form Barello or Robotic Power. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

what current level are these things pulling?
there are some small H-Bridge chips
~3-5A that may do everything you want pretty cheaply with a PIC or something to drive them _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

Thats not a bad idea, actualy i remember glen talking about them. If someone could help me program a picaxe for controling 2 h-bridge chips and an AUX for weapon i would be very happy!
Seriosly, if someone develops the code for that (i can't imagine it being that hard), I know at least 8 people that would buy it to make an ant!
+ Using a picaxe allows you to use a standard rc reciever! (no hacking crappy rc toys or going INFRA RED like someone i know... ) _________________ ( •_•)

radio waves are some 1990's.....
those little chips youd need the number for, i had them in a book called making robot bases i believe it was. all the american antweight controllers use them so i imagine they may well cost a couple of $
there pretty cool, full proportional H-bridge inside a single IC 5 amps current limiting and all that (on the normal sozbots controllers that is) _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

800ma is what that 2nd one is speced at is really low current
like *really* _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

Stuff this, i'm just going to hack some servos.
Does anyone know where i can get some futaba reciever plugs? I need them, as the servos have the wrong plugs (they're very old futaba servos, but work nicely). I also think that if i can find myself a cheap cooking blowtorch (the next size step from pencils), with a peizio, i'll buy it and rig up a servo.
shite lightning, better get of the computer! _________________ ( •_•)
I've got some ideas for a proportional speed control for an antweight based around a picaxe chip. If you catch me on msn I'm glad to explain my ideas. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/
