nice move, but it wont do you any good! Scoopy has secrects up her sleeve...
If Windstorm cannot fit inside the dust bin of Scoopy, then how will she be able to cut it And just for that comment, I demand a grudge match I always wanted to fight Scoopy again since Haemorrhave VS Scoopy at RoboWars 1(I hope that arm is better then last time!)
OT: My finger is all good now, a few hours of playing Battlefield 2 with the joystick in my left hand brought it back to life Piccy of my chopped finger after a quick removal of the duct tape and a thorough washing.
Well I'm almost over my cold and tommorow is a day off
Sprockets are here and I have to do something with them!
Tommorow I'm going to look at designing the shafts a little different.
I've also got the internal angle bracing half design, so hopefully that will prevent the stainless from getting bent by spinners. Also ditching the idea of the actuated front wedge, too much weight involved. Will just spend that extra weight into the wearplating _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Well some progress was made! I went over to Andrew's and used his lathe to machine down the ends of the axles for the roller bearings. He also gave me some tips for using roller bearings which has been added to my ever growing learning experience from robots
I also had a quick poke around with the lay out of the robot, and I think I can shave 50mm from both the length and width. This will compact the robot a tad bit more, but will save some weight. So I'll be definately welding the wearplating on now! woohooo!
Okay, a little more progress this evening. I pressed some of the bearings in and temp mounted the two axles and two wheels in to see how they looked. They seem okay, little bit more friction then I though, but it will be due to the lack of oil on the bearings.
Just have to machine the part for the sprockets and get some washers for the wheels and they should almost be finished! YAY!
dont forget that those shafts need to be polished up- a bit more before you start running the bearings on them might even be a good thing iff we harden and temper them after they are finished off for the bearings .. but at the low speeds they will be doing its probaly not nesesary ..

@Angus: The tac welds are only mild steel. I'll be welding it fully soon with stainless welds.
@Andrew: We'll polish them off the next time I can borrow the lathe. I've worked out where the sprockets have to go roughly, so that can be machined next. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

very noice.
if you turn the batteries and IBC sideways you could cut that thing almost in half width wise
Work on this has come to a stop for a few weeks. Namely to the fact I've been busy with other commitments, like LANs, TAFE, My Car, Family events, etc..
I had a quick look today and realise the chain i had for the sprockets.... doesn't fit Looks like it's not wide enough. Will hunt it down when I have time. Due to time and me wanting it to drive around already. I might cut back to 4WD or maybe 2WD. It saves weight all over and time. In desperate need of getting the base plate materails cut. I'll have to pick up my sheet of stainless from Andrew to hack it from. Might do that monday...
