Hey. i'm thinking of building a bot with my dad and uncle to maybe enter this year. But first i'd like to check out a few battles. i'd realy apreciate some advice and such.
And take your time. you don't wanna rush things and make too many mistakes and get them exploited in the arena. and then it'll cost more to fix em. but it's a great hobby so welcome!
thanx. thats given me quite a good idea of things.
actually, i was also wondering about a few more specific things too. like what the mainly used radio control systems were, if the marayong series are the closest and soonest events on, and if a standard radio controller could adapt to a RC Car's receiver.

For radios have a good read of the links on this page.
I have a 75Mhz basic radio with Dean antena. this works well.
Then the next level is a PCM radio.
Then a Spectrum.
In Technical Chat there are some subjects on radio's as well. with more info and views.
at the last event in Melb about 50% use a Spectrum 2.4Ghz system
the others using mainly 72 or 75Mhz radio's with some of them PCM
there are still others using lower Freq but not recomended due to interferance.
There was nearly nil interferance problems at the RoboWars event in Melb in Jan
Hi! NSW generaly has the most frequent events, but alsothe most KE spinners. Watch out for jolt/orbit/late/snak masseen(masheen)(XD anguz), stay away frome hose clamp motor mounts (pm Giant Robo on that one) and good luck! _________________ Oh god, that old signature was terrible...

thanx again. i checked out the controlller pages which gave me a good grasp of things and i think i'll take ur advice on taking caution with Jolt, Snakmasheen and orbit. but i couldn't find any pics on 'late'.
i've got a good design going, but its not quite off the paper yet.

I should be able to make that, but HSC will cause a lot of chaos for me this year.
Also keep in mind I can't make it any earlier than 10.30 usualy due to the distance traveled and my dad won't wake up any earlier, but I always come with the batteries charged and the robot ready to go so I can't really see it being too much of a problem. _________________ ( •_•)

Is the train option any better if someone picks you up? Coz we we're looking to be fairly strict on time this year. And making a concession and moving it back, this early in the season isn't a great precedent to set. What about your freaking licence?? What's with you young people being 17 and not having licences? Glen?????

I don't have a car to learn in, so it's pretty much pointless me trying to get one, the only car we've got is actualy the company's car, and no one under 21 can drive it. I'll be trying to get there by 10, but it's hard.
Why can't we just have the first fight bang on 10.30? We've been adveraging at starting past 11 usualy. If we get rid of the *tinkering* time, there should be ample day time. Alternativly start on 10, but just put my fight back till i'm there, round robins can be quite flexible. _________________ ( •_•)
