I downloaded FF2 last week... I use it for those ultra rare occasions when Opera doesn't want to work... And I also have IE7 just for the hell of having it...

Never got into the swing of FireFax. Just liked Opera's funky design, sweet IRC built in (No installin a bajillion pluginz to get it to do stuff) and it runs on my mobile!!! When I tried it, FireFax was pants on 56k... Even IE was faster at times Shocked

Fox2 does look better though, I just haven't had time to thrash it yet to see what it can do... I'll add it to that really long list of things to do.. Like building a bot, and building a file server....

Well that I disagree with. The mere existanse of such a tool indicates that speed is a known issue in Firefox. Personaly i've never had much of a problem with speed on Firefox, but i have seen instances where it indeed was a lot slower than IE and Opera.

I know there are some tweaks out there to speed things up, but it nevertheless is a valid point.

Speed? Are you guys really that impatient? Normal people don't notice if a page takes 0.5 seconds longer to load.
A spell checker is more interesting. Now I just need something to add in the letters and words I miss out when my brain works faster then my fingers.

@Daniel: One of the forums I visit can really bog a browser down. (www.nissansilvia.com forums). When I was at a friends place, using good ole 56k, Firefox was extremely slow loading this site, I ended up going back to IE simply because it would load the pages quicker. With 56k, every second counts!

At home, it's not so bad, I'm usually multi tasking, so waiting an extra 0.33 seconds is nothing to me when I'm flicking between the NS Forums, Robowars Forums, WMP, Planeshift, My Documents & Bit Torrent Rolling Eyes

@Brett: Gotta love the think geek shirts Cool

I should buy this one... Embarassed

No its not an "issue" its just the default behavior of firefox is very "safe" fasterfox turns on things like http pipelining that speed things up (especially on high latency links like a 56k) very dramatically.
you can do all the same optimisations manually but fasterfox just makes it easy.

Ask glen how much of a difference it made ;->

Opera has similar things turned on by default.

Does FireFox have Widgets (or equiv)? Opera has them and I use them a fair bit, like the MD5 #, Calculator & XE Currency Widgets. Really handy when there are at your finger tips...

FTP is something I can't say I've used in Opera. I usuallly use good ole command line or WS-FTP if I'm feelin lazy.

I have finally downloaded a copy of Firefox 3 Beta 2. There are a few sites that cause IE7 to crash.
