Flaring out heater hose

Question -

in my bike i have the radiator with an outlet of 20mm. the motor has an inlet of 10mm.

what i need to do is flare out the end of the pipe to 20mm so it will go over the radiator but not sure how to do it. ive tried heating up a dead center with the torch then bashing the pipe on over the top of it but the heater hose just doesnt stretch at all.

the only other thing i can think of is to find some massive 20mm bolt, lathe a spike into it then thread it in and heat the whole thing up till it just stays that size..

i tried putting some smaller hose on the motor inlet and running 20mm pipe across to it but it seals like shait and leaks everywhere Confused

not sure what to do now Surprised any ideas!!

It seems like a no brainer, but a 20 min jobby of machining up an adaptor sounds like it would fix that problem Razz 10mm hose between motor and adaptor, and 20mm hose between radiator and adaptor...

Easy.

Go to your local pluming supplies and ask for an adapter from 10mm to 20mm

Hardwares stores could have them to.

Bush mechanics way would be just to throw the radiator away and loop the hose back to the motor Laughing

you could use a 20mm hose and then a short bit of 10mm hose on the smaler end then fit the 20 mm hose over the 10mm hose use two pieces stretching the second over the first iff the gap is still too big for the 20mm hose and double clamp it down on the 10mm end but make sure the clamps are over on the 10mm spigot Shocked

you did want a reply from a bush mechanic

Very Happy
