Fileing down a wheel?
Hey there, well as the title suggests im looking into fileing down some wheels.
Currently have 2 7\8 inch wheels from bane bots on my motors and hope to trim that smaller to get rid of speed for push and make them harder to hit as there is plenty to spare.
Now as the gripy layers is rather big I could most likely at least get a cm off there if I file it but as im not sure of how the wheels are made I dont know if it will work or not without destorying the wheel.
Plan was the run the wheel on a motor and apply a controled hight file onto it while spining at a set hight and copy that setup for each wheel. Anyone got any comments on this _________________ Team KO

Filing soft plastic wheels probably won't work - the standard industrial method is to grind them down. You could try rotating them against a belt sander, but don't be surprised if the tread starts falling apart

i tried lathing down a colson and it didnt work too well. the tread goes all flaky and i reckon it would crumble apart. i probably wouldnt try it either _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

I ground down a pair of wheels once. They were not BaneBot wheels so I don't know what will happen to your wheels if you choose to try the same method.
I put the wheel on a 1/2" axle and held the angle grinder against the wheel. It was satisfactory. The wheels were used for many fights and I still have them now. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems
