How are people going with those cheap 2.4ghz hobby king radios?

Any problems with the radio or failsafe? Looking at buying a couple for me and someone els but i need to know if they failsafe properly with a xxl or sidewinder.

mine still goes strong glens seamed fine as well at robowars still.
They failsafe like old AM or FM radios so the ESC will need to have failsafe on it unlike escs likethe BR6000.
My case and aerial has taken some damaged due to my careless packing. but does not affect anything.
Ive got the cheapest one with mechanical trims and only 4 channel.

Yeh they work great. If you spend an extra $6 for a 6 channel one and a cable you can plug it into your computer and change the mixing and all that sort of stuff as well.

Would there be any point in having say a 30a auto reset breaker on each motor lead after the xxl as a mechanical means of blow proofing?

Or a thermal switch mounted on the fetts that cuts the power to the receiver so the user can not keep driving when its about to pop.

Im looking to overkill blow proof an xxl so to speak.

The breaker would help protect the system, however, Brett made a good point one time about being stuck in the arena for several seconds while the breaker resets. It comes down to what you would rather risk.

This is not for combat use so im not worried about it getting stuck for a few seconds but if it will work i guess ill find a breaker about 30a and it should cut in before the esc's peak current time length is exceeded i would think.

Did you have a link to brett's post?

probably wouldnt be of any worth, the only thing i could think of that would kill an xxl would be some super quick burst of current that would happen before the controllers current limit and temp limit could react (its build into the hbridge chips so id think it would be pretty quick) in which case a breaker would be pretty useless Smile

transmitter or reciever? the transmitter lasts for a bit over 2 days non stop on AAs and the reciever is a little bit under what the XXL bec can do iirc. runing a weapon controller off the bec threw mine over its limit Confused

Just ordered my first Dewalt packs, found a price online that seemed rather good.
Will wait till package arrives and open up the units before posting link but was JW

What is the best price per cell people have been getting on A123s?
I think I have stumbled across a good deal, maybe.

depends, chinese ripoffs are very cheap in bulk. theres a couple of chinese sellers with them in bulk lots of 10 or 20 for super cheap but i dont think they are the real deal, all of mine died in 3 events.

i got a couple more for robowars off an australian place called lightning EV in nsw that was $9 a cell and they are genuine. they still work too (which is a bonus lol)
