Chinese Laser Help

HI Folks,
I am in desperate need for someone to fix or look at my chinese laser engraver, happy to take it to you and pay for your time.
Seems the tube lights up but no burn marks anywhere so unsure whether i need a new tube or not, furthermore prior to this , a few weeks ago i moved the mirrors so now they are out also.

If you can help me in any way , please contact me , I live in melbourne and like i said am happy to deliver and pick up this machine.

Thank you
Marcel

Hi Marcel,

Luckily, I can help you right out with that problem: http://www.chineselasersupportforum.com/vbul/forum/forum.php?s=7693adcaab300ad3168203a08e732368

I don't want to be rude, but you really didn't do much research about this forum & lasers; the only guy with any experience is up in Sydney and the only guy technically capable in Melbourne is not usually interested in taking extra work on. You really need to get on to a specialised forum with people work on the Chinese gear all the time. Having said that, if the machine is relatively new its probably electronics rather than the laser tube.

If the tube lights up and the ammeter registers current (14ma + at full power) then the tube is fine. Surely the mirrors aren't aligned.

1) - Remove the mirrors.

2) - Put masking tape over the mirror hole and hit the test fire button quickly at low power. Adjust the mirror housing until the burn mark is dead center.

3) - Do the same to the mirrors on the gantry, but, fire it with the gantry at both extents and make sure the burn mark lands in the same position (center).

Thats the general gist of it anyway. You aren't getting any laser marks on your work because the laser beam is firing off in some random direction and not making it into the laser head.

Look up youtube vids on aligning the beam, rabbitlaserusa has heaps of guides on it. Its tedious work, but essential to set it up right.

You have to align them regularly, so learn to do it well yourself for sure Smile Good luck! If you need more help i can grab a video of it but it might have to wait a little bit.

Hi nick and appreciate your input.
I make movie props and am a member of a few forums and don't usually jump into one like this.
I have no idea about this machine and feel I will room it even more.

I searched the net and saw someone here had done some incredible stuff with one and figured I could get the help.
If the person is not interested then there's not much I can do.

Glen thank you ,
The tube lights up and the amp goes all the way to full however a few weeks ago whilst trying to adjust the mirrors I used to put a piece of paper and it use to burn, now not even a paper close to the end of the tube burns it , nothin at all.
Again if there is anyone that can help , I am not expecting anything free , and will pay you , so appreciate the help.
Marcel

Hrmm! so if you put some paper in front of the tube itself (not one of the mirrors) you dont get any burn marks? The lens built into the firing end of the tube have been known to fall apart as they're only epoxied on there.

If thats the case you may as well grab another tube. Theyre ~$100 off ebay and its good to have a spare anyway. The lifespan is only a couple of hundred hours at best.

These are some good forums too.
