The next part of the project arrived and I an tell its going to be a major distraction:
Its just amazing that such a small board can run a full Linux OS! The Raspberry Pi Zero gives up the Ethernet and some USB ports of it's larger siblings but it still has more than enough I/O for this project. I like the board so much that I ordered a Raspberry 3 to be a media player for the workshop.
The foam shell is cut down to roughly the right shape and painted - its very dodgy but fine for making a better template. The next foam will be cut on the laser, which does a much neater and faster job than I ever could.
There are a shit-load of manuals to read and things to learn about the new boards and the Processing language; when my brain overloads, I am looking at ways to test out the servo operated blades; I found a Pololu serial servo controller board and some quick 'n dirty programming will make a servo tester to operate several channels. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

When you turn the RPI3 into a media centre, install Kodi, it will blow your mind _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

I heard good things about Kodi and also OSMC, which is based on Kodi. Any opinions on which is better? _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion
