more like http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/seanet1310/overthread1.jpg
btw im hoping not to have the clutch and drill and tap a hole in the top of the threaded rod so it can be screwed onto the thread of the dewalt _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.
Yeah, that looks better, shouldn't have as much stress on the actuator thread now. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Finay got some A123's but waiting on a charger befoure i make the packs and test them out.
grabber is again on hold.
First steel armoured bot made an apearene on the weekend at danys its not even 2mm mild on the wedge but came out better then the Ali i had on that same bot over a year ago when it faced the same type of bots.
Kirsten may not be as bad a driver as she apeared on the weekend turns out left and right where switched as was froward and reverse. mixing is now fixed.
Plastique2 (lifter) is being revived and given a new acuator which i have spent the day working on as the old one was too long for my use.
This one will be weaker but should be fine for a lifter and a good length.
Ordered a brushless for my drum bot plans. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5204
I need to work out what pullys to use.
Again this will probably be vic only at first due to the weak drum and may evolve. _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.

v belt all the way. 8mm shaft and the low kv are perfect for it. although timing pulleys would be easier (you can get them with the 8mm bore already but they cost more) _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

8mm front armor. 5mm side. 3mm baseplate, 5mm claw. all mild steel. if this bot goes ok will invest in a bis version post robowars.
yellow dot is centre of gravity
polycrab roof.
a123s for battery.
the black box with a little blue around it is repersenting an xxl in a box with a victor on top. both no fan.
point is an m10 bolt sharpened. Will have a flat head version as well depending on that would be most effective this fight.
estimated full open to close time 8 seconds with limited resistance
Any suggestions on weak spots or improvements would be greatly appreciated. I am drawing a blank with what else to change. _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.

I would be tempted to make the hinge point a bit wider to avoid excessive twisting, which might cause the rod to bind. Also maybe mount a small hinged wedge on the front since the COG is behind the wheel, but keep the larger wedge for crushing.
Other than that, good luck _________________ They say that he crossed the fine line, from insanity to genius.

thanks mike.
hinge wider should be doable with out much added weight.
some people have had some bad experiences with hinged wedges. might be an idea to consider. It is not shown there but the wedge would contact the floor so it was flat a bit like how demon looks with its front forks. Anyone know of a reliable and low weight hinged wedge design? i can salvage 500g by making the front only 5mm steel other then that there is not many places for weight saving.
One reason for the COG behind the wheels other then they fitted well there was as the claw comes down the COG moves forward and that is where the claw will contact the enemy bot incuraging the back to lift. the further back COG i was thinking may add some slight resistance to this but not much. My thinking could be way off on this anyway _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.

The back won't lift if it is connected to the other bot, as it will be one secure mass with the cog between the two bots.
I was just thinking it was rather bad practice to have the cog behind the wheel as it first relies on the wedge to get under the other robot. _________________ They say that he crossed the fine line, from insanity to genius.

charging the battery's then ill do a vid with a very sharp point.
hoping that will get a clean piercing of the polycarb, The dull point almost gets there.
not sure on how charged the battery's where they have not been charged for months.
Looks like i might make the event afterall with this bot _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.
that is a sharp point, full voltage, fully charged. bring on robowars.
remember the bot is a grabber not a crusher so seams decent grabbing. _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.

welding is finnaly done,
Just got to drill and tap 5 M5's
paint
cut a polycarb top and do 3/4 of the wireing looks like ill be good to for robowars. hope to do a full test of the weapon without clamping the bot down and test to see if it can drive. if it works that will be last last test as i do not want to tax the motor before the big event.
Idea is to test it though polycarb with the old box everyone use to use for there IBC's if i can find my spare.
due to the crap design with the center of gravity this thing will get stuck under a 5cent piece if im not lucky. 2 Late to change it now. _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.
