In all the aviation cases i'm aware of there have only been minor injuries, and those were all caused by the pilots rubbing their eyes. FAA/CASA guidance is as I recall look away from the laser, any visual impacts will be brief, do not rub eyes.
(for all sensible powers of laser)

I would have thought that the existing laws against trying to crash planes would have been sufficient.

But no you need to make new laws or the media will go off at you.

Considered #25 chain? Hobbypart.com.au has them for a reasonable price.

11T sprocket = $8.95 http://www.hobbyparts.com.au/store/item/sp10635h0110635cs/sprockets635mmpitchsimplexmetal/
33T sprocket = $14.95 http://www.hobbyparts.com.au/store/item/sp10635p0330953cs/sprockets635mmpitchsimplexmetal/
44T sprocket = $14.95 http://www.hobbyparts.com.au/store/item/sp10635p0441270cs/sprockets635mmpitchsimplexmetal/

Alternatively, there are 4.5:1 planetary gears available for the 100watt scooter motors. They just need a housing, shaft and front bearing setup made (easy for you with your lathe) - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/280681340694?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Hey dudes,

Anybody got any 18v DSE drill motors they could sell? Demon only needs one to survive this last event before it gets rebuilt with dewalt drives so if anyones got a spare they could get rid of that'd be amazing Smile

Name your price if so!

Build your own "i did" Cool

aixiz lasers sell eveything you need so dose ebay.

You need a laser diode and a driver board and a glass lens housing jiggy and some good rechargeable aa's.

I built a 1W blue laser cost me about $70 and it will pretty much hit the moon.
Also pops baloons and cuts out shapes in paper bags from 6 foot away and burns holes in cd cases and lights matches etc etc.

You could build a smaller one for cheaper that would be plenty for star pointing something like a 300mw would be plenty. Normal $2 shop ones are only 1mw.

Looking for a local source for #25 chain. http://www.hobbyparts.com.au wants over $70 for 10 feet (~3m) and they can only supply 1. Looked at http://www.robotmarketplace.com and they have it for around $25US for 10 feet, but they want nearly $50 for shipping (would be getting other things from them, so not a real worry).

Also looking for a local source of timing belts and pulleys. Was looking at http://www.hobbyparts.com.au and they are again charging significantly more (if they have any stock) than http://www.robotmarketplace.com . I'm looking at the XL pulleys. I'm after 4 72 tooth sprockets (RMP has them for ~$55US each) and 4 15 tooth sprockets (RMP has them for ~$15US each).

Between the pulleys and the chain, RMP is charging ~$80US for freight.

Anyone got any ideas for suppliers in Melbourne (or Australia)

Thanks

number 25 is pretty common, any bearing place should supply it. I cant remember the size anymore but i think 25 might be the same as pocket bike chains, thus mega cheap on ebay Smile Ill have to have a look in a bit if it is.
