well an interesting testing day today it must be said

the tread has stayed on for about 2 hours of testing and the batteries are now sitting at 12.41 volts after 30 minutes of solid driving (after 13v starting)

the block splitter however is once more gone. it did make it heavy and all but unfortunately it really slowed it down even with it spinning straight, and the performance in regards to turning was poor with all that weight bearing down on the arm.

now im going for a threaded rod spike that spins very fast. no steel on the front this time as itll throw of the balance again, so maybe sometime soon.

now to fix up the aerial, its only connected to the rx with a terminal block but needs something more secure.

went to test at jeffs today,

throttle cable aerial gets full range in jeffs arena, happy about that.

also the tread peeled off a bit at the join. im going to try super glue it and if that fails its back to plain red wheels or colsons or whatever is laying around hehe.

thinking the normal red wheels will be the go if the superglued tread wheels fail.

also want a bit of steel on the front. im a little worried about plan b and basilisk mag ripping up the aluminium a little. so ill be keeping my eye out for some 3mm.

got some extra spacers on the castors to give a bit more clearance on the back, and so if i go to normal red wheels ill have enough clearance.

hoping that super glue holds it on...

dude get yourself some 5 minute epoxy
bunnings et al sells the stuff
if you want to use more get it from fms or some hobby places, i think it was around $20 or $30 for about half a liter (in total)

its 2 part stuff
mix parts a and b and apply.
if you want to thicken it up some so you can make fillets, mix it with talc

wear rubber gloves when you deal with the stuff, a) you can become sensitised to it over time and get an alergic reaction to it but its pretty harmless
b) its sticky and icky and with the gloves when your finished you just turf em and its all good.

thank you good sir Smile

this sikaflex stuff holds great for a while but after it just gives way after a certain time period. not to mention at $23 a bottle it totally blows ass when you use about 1/8th of it and have to turf it.

mm well that 5 minute epoxy did the trick with the wheels.

i was pushing 13kg of bricks across the floor with wheels spinning hard and had no tread give way so far.

more SCARILY the radio has decided to be a total b*tch and isnt getting any more than 5m range after getting 100% range up to 25m all the way up to this point.

think 3 things are happening. trying to weed them out.

well repeated impacts over a one year period take their toll on the little crystals, and i was ramming it into the wall yesterday so i thinks it may have been the last straw for it.

not a problem Glen with radio. Also nick, could u bring yoru spare radio if possible just in case anything happens with mine.

The 3kg bot wont be done in time. If i get it done no it will be nothing but rushed. Dodgy as hell and something that will only fight one then get torn apart anyway's. i will build a proper one instead of a rushed bodgy job.

well the little soldier got another 3rd to its name. more than impressed with it.

really gave el bravo a good hammering on those wheels even with the old blue hammer. spin is alot harder this time round it seems.

gave sorry a good run until damn andrews Tx went flat Evil or Very Mad CHARGE IT NEXT TIME DAMMIT lol.

basilisk really gave it out good. ill put up the picture soon but the little ball castor is a mangled piece of steel and the ball has vanished. also crushed the body in so bad i couldnt get the top off in addition to knocking of the switch. btw nick the IBC is okay!

the batteries where fine. never discharged them less than 12.5v which was okay by my standards. the tread was dissapointing so thats never to be seen again.

i guess this time its an all steel frame, spike hammer, fixed radio, steel corner brackets and a couple of other little things.

impressed with it very much. you cant ask much better a result given i wasnt fighting until andrew gave us the radio. and even more impressive it survived an attack by basilisk in one piece (sort of lol)

well thanks to jake cobra is back on track!

he came to the rescue today opto isolating the IBC which doubled the range it had with the buggered rx (we found out it is buggered, more later) and with jakes radio he was literally across the road and still going with no jittering at all!

so onto the reciever. it seems a 10v capacitor inside has burned out for reasons unknown so nfi what went on there. either way its going in for repairs.

found out the reason why it stopped in the rumble now, turned out the switch gave up the ghost just at the wrong time (with basilisks assistance no doubt).

so where do i go from here?:

-4mm steel sides
-6mm steel front and rear
-spike weapon
-capacitor hat internal aerial
-remounted and moved switch

should be of ultimate spinner killing proportion by next event.

ah well ive figured out the things that need rectifying now.

the steel ive got coming will be for incoming. so the aluminium will stay for now as not many people have done a lot of damage flat on, its all on the corners.

to that end ill be shopping for some 3-4mm thick steel angle bracket to put over the outside of the frame to hold it together with countersunk bolts, then ill grind then edges of the bracket flush with the frame. hopefully, this will mean no spinners can grab on to it and so forth.

im also chasing some stainless steel for the new hammer head. itll still be a double head, with one on top and one on the bottom because that worked great, but instead of the old one being blunt, this will be a sharp diamond, so i can spin in both directions but also spike people by driving at them.

then theres the problem of the castor Shocked gotta figure out how to stop them getting annihilated.
