I think they are buying them off EBAY, I remember that kkeerroo bought one for $5 and $45 postage. For $20, I wouldn't mind one! _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

The camera that every one is talking about can bought from Ebay there is a supplier that is base in QLD.
their ebay trading name: - 'gariten'
I am currently bidding on one (I have missed out on previouse auctions)
so before everyone goes out and gets them, I can run some tests and work out if they will suit our needs with the Bots.
Will need to work out if more than one camera can be used at the same time, etc, etc. _________________ It's all about the destruction.

the concept of all terain sounds interesting ...... i will watch with curiosity..........
but im assuming building a 12kg 4wd to cope with rough dusty dirty terrain might be a whole new challenge ..middleweights for sure ....it just sounds a bit like motorcycle supercross event but with robots... and as mentioned before all i can see a field of pushbots just going around bashing into eachother ,and a lot of dust which i wouldnt like to be picking out of electric motors ....but as i said it does have pottential _________________ Photos - http://community.webshots.com/album/154092733uokpXC

I'm not sure what the frequency the camera uses. will find out once I have one.
Before everyone goes out and starts bidding on a wireless camera and drives the price up, because we are bidding againest each other. we might all want to wait until some testing has started.
I don't use Ajax on ebay as my ID name. (It was already taken by someone else) _________________ It's all about the destruction.

lets not worry about the hight at the moment the starting point for the platform will be the size of the top.
the reason I say this is this: -
a platform that is 2500mm high at 45 Deg with a skirt around the base at about 25 Deg (to help bots to start the climb) and the top at 750mm (I think could be to small) would mean the the base would be more than 5000mm (5 Meters)
This is something that will need to be thought about when making a hill.
just some food for thought. _________________ It's all about the destruction.

I am surprised that people seem to think their bots are going to be ok falling a distance of over 2 metres over and over again and keep working. I just didnt see this thing being that tall. I could be wrong about this but there must be some well made bots out there to handle that sort of inpact again and again.
It sounds like something you would need to know when building as that sounds like a major factor in your build. _________________ Bots that do not destroy you, only make you stronger.

At Team Vertex, Andrew does all the testing
When Annihilation was first built, he decided to drive his XC falcon on top of it because he was short of a car ramp.
He dropped Vertex out of a tree weighing it.
Haemorrhage fell off a chair face first.
Cheeze Shredder was the test bot for all the other robots weapons.

not only that , you would need to be about 5 meters high to see the other side of the hill. I think considering the size of the arena in melbourne and the size of the featherweights half a meter is probably enough of a drop, i think it will be enough for the robots to land upside down. for the king of the hill maybe make it higher, but just remember that the drivers will need to be twice as high as the hill if they are going to have a clear view of the field.

The hight of the hill is not important. The size that the platform at the top of the hill and the arena size will determine the hight, and that can very from event to event.
the most important specs are the minimiun size for the top platform for the different classes. and the maximiun angle of incline.
then the Event organizers can set the hight of the hill, dependant of the avalible space.. _________________ It's all about the destruction.

Well I bought a dummy security camera today and pulled it apart and put my camera in it and attached it to the front of Adversary with velcro. The picture is rather good, but we only recorded the part where the robots speedos went hay-wire and the robot was only spinning on the spot. The only interferance caused by the camera was the motors rythmically squeaking, but I should remind people we use 75MHz radio's. _________________ Get Some!!!

Most of the wireless cameras that I have seen are 1.2 GHz and the newer ones are 2.4 GHz
There are some older ones floating around at 0.9 GHz _________________ It's all about the destruction.

kick arse idea
i recon the all terrain idea is great. i all so think that you should make an all terrain battle ground that is away from spectators that can get hurt use the cammeras and make actual tanks that fire whatever like nails or other objects thoug this idea if it was to happen it would need to be away in a room with like holes to get signals thought _________________ For West ausies interested in robotics email me at: theoneshrug@hotmail.com
