Tactical Strike - Team KO - VIC
Hello all long time no post!
I'm starting a new robot KO is dead. That said same type of robot I think a name change would just be nice
Basically I have just cleaned out the work area and starting to get ready for a build.
Biggest news though is a sponsor!!. Getting my work (http://www.laserstrike.com.au/) to sponsor me it looks like. Won _________________ Team KO

guaranteed running them 24 volt hammerdrills times 4 in a feather with a ibc is instant death in my eyes, the motors on those things r huge (i got two down in garage) and running just two with ibc i think may be pushing it at 24 volt
think logically, u wasted the ibc with 4 18 volt drills and now yoru running 24 volters in em, guaranteed, ibc will struggle/die
also if u want two of em i bought two and will prob never get round to using them, lemme know if yoru interested in buying em
also welcome back man _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

I've been toying with the idea of putting a thermostat on the heatsink and hacking it into the disable pin on the hip chips. I haven't done anything yet, but feel free to give it a try if your up for it. _________________ They say that he crossed the fine line, from insanity to genius.

I hope it will be ok but I am exspecting to run the bot on about 18v, Still that will be faster than my old 12v on 24v. The man reasion i'm useing 24v ones is so the motors will not be over stressed.
That said when the ibc blew up it was always because a motor had failed at least in part
But as I said it will have one hell of a heatsink!
I am also leaveing the cluch on the drills this time for another method to play with.
I'll be arsking the same speed and power of these drills as the last ones so even though they are able to put down more power it should rarely need/be able to. The last motors did spin the wheels on the spot what more can you get.
I'm also focusing on lowering the strain on the motors by the lower grip rear wheels and i'll be takeing more care with skirts/wedges so they don't take chips out of the floor so much.
Also if they are indeed the same motors I would be intersted as I only have my one for testing right now. _________________ Team KO

ok, ive hacked my two apart and put grub screws in em etc so basically its a normal drill except the shaft is removable but theres a funny shaped thing on the shaft that if u mount that will lock it all in place
pm me if your interested _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

First up sorry but I needed the clutch as it's one of the ways I want to play with and useful if I ever want to dumb it down so anyone can use it without blowing up. As in my boss
Now for the first time I going to get a picture build report and so comes the most important pic of them all.....
The jigsaw pic!
http://www.robowars.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=1430
One of the best parts of the build where you just get your parts and just play jigsaw as your work out the build of your bot. Who needs cad!
Yea that will fit there, dam the batteries won’t fit now, I know I’ll run them 3 across and make that a bit wider, dam now that blocks that! What if I spin that like this.
Must be weird to see my staring at a Pile of parts just waving my hands around moving things I don’t even have yet in my mind.
So far I worked out the mounting of everything up to the top/side armour so ready to get building the robot base/drive train _________________ Team KO

Well parts for the first bot arrived, 4 36mm banebot gearboxs with 540 motors and 2 spares with hubs and a few different wheels.
First up im making a cluster bot with this first one running 4 of those motors with 2 7/8 inch wheels (though planning to cut them down a to 60mm if I can and it looks like it) runs off a ibc that should for a change handle what im doing to it no problem.
Also no overvolting lol running the motors on 12v as recommended off a 12v 3.3 amp NiMh battery pack so should have lots of running time and not push the battery's too hard.
Basic idea is same as the larger rammer I was talking about before just made to be smaller and more compact. Should get pics up soon.
I have the ideas in my head for the second part of the cluster but ill worry about that after this one is running _________________ Team KO

Thanks for posting the pics Glen.
Anyway first off no thats just a normal twack bot, the hope is the rammer will be able to push people into it but its just a theroy.
As for second driver prob my dad or just some random freind i drag along.
Not much more to do and the robot will be finshed, just waiting on ibcs now to give it a test run.
Still needs wedge\skirts on the rammer and blades on the twack.
Now the motors are hardly powerful so main worry is they just wont do the job but even if they dont still should be fun. Seeing wepions made for 30 pound bots hit my little guys has to be fun right? _________________ Team KO

i would advise getting them aycar motors i sent u the lik for and attaching them, if not that then limit the servop travel if you have a funky radio so the motors see maybe 14 volts max to save massive motor failure _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics
