Time for a new spinner...
Idea behind this one is it'll last longer in the local tournament!
Specs:
Weapon - Large Drum
Weapon Motor - Blue Inrunner maybe changed to the motors used in 360.
Drives - 18v connected to front wheels via large O rings (changed to timing pulleys and banebots at a later date when I can afford that...)
ESC - Sabretooth (but if that fails, probably ibc once it's fixed)
Frame - Bisalloy and/or high tensile.
Batteries - A123s
Lots of indecision as yet, but it will definitely be 4wd and have that general drum shape, being able to drive is a must!
I also intend to do a full costing list for all these people thinking of making spinners for first time bots (you know who you are xD)
It'll be updated here:
ESC - 150
Batteries - 125
Weapon motor + esc - 150
More laters. But getting started on this bot today.

watchout with belt drives and using the armor as frame members.
When the thing takes a hit it can bend that plate and make the whole thing wonky , causing all the belts on that plate to run off. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

Duly noted, I'm trying to work out a way to avoid that. Might just mean they're supported on one side only, but would be better than jamming up. It probably won't work, but if I can use those redwheel hubs i'll have a 2.50 wheel XD They weigh nothing too. _________________ ( •_•)
Large o-rings are expensive BTW, I asked for some 6" o-rings in 1/4" and they were $20+ each _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Timing belts can be that much too. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

From what im told the sabertooth and scorpion will not handle 4wd. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

You could use round power transmission belt, available from McMaster a other places. You buy it by the foot and heat weld it to length - probably cheaper than an O ring. Are you counting on the rubber belt to be the tread on the rims? you could have heaps of trouble with the belt pulling off during turns.

i think 4wd on a drumbot or vert spinner is a waste. they drive so well from the natural gyro built into them anyway. and push plenty good enough.
is mc master sending to the average customer now or are they still being a bunch of w**kers

The O rings could well pull off during turns, but something i'd want to try.
It is invertible, two small standoffs would let it spin too, but that's sort of pointless as it would be spinning downwards. There wouldn't be a lot of weight for that though, as the armour is not book covering and cardboard.
Again, it's just an idea, as Tim said timing pulleys cost the bomb. I might consider small O ring transmissions, just wish decent parts weren't so hard to come by I'd rather avoid mcmaster...
@ Aaron - 20 per side isn't really a lot considering the price of banebots and the accompanying transmission. _________________ ( •_•)

They are when you can easily shred 4-5 o-rings in just 1 event. I got a small set of #25 chain and sprockets I could sell you for cheap, they could easily be adapted to work with drills. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Redesign of nominator using parts available to me at home and uni workshop, also simple due to limited time before battleshed.
Thinking of using some thick ali C section for siderails, so I can replace them when they get all smashed up, and also can bolt wood/uhmw to the sides if weight allows, for spinners to... erm... nom on...
