Had to tap two holes in demons older bisalloy 400 disks and had to drill the hole out pretty big to get it to go through. ~ 7.3mm hole for an m8 or something to that effect with a new tap.

The datasheet IIRC has info on how to tap it and the recommendation is that more or less.

The HAZ of plasma cut is hard as crap, hit that with a grinder, the rest of it isn't too bad really.

one trick for drilling hard mat (not sure if you guys know this sorry if you do) is to mark the holes you want to drill, then heat heat those points till they are red hot all the way though the thickness of the mat sometimes heating from both sides then let cool naturally,or let cool in/under sand, for really hard stuff you might need to do it twice.

Hard to grind the HAZ out of a hole though Jake lol, heating is probably best. Not too hard to get it read with a MAPP torch from bunnings Smile

Check this, got my eccentric engineering toolholders the other day. What monster tools. SO very worth the $100.

6mm Depth of cut in 2011 aluminium at double the proper speed. Would have gone deeper but its literally the depth of the tool bit lol. 'Mazin. Will post up a real review later Smile

IKR, all the craycrays, Machine barely vibrates or anything at all. Just cuts like butter <3

M&J - Yeah its just one guy that makes them in melbourne Smile Here's his store - http://www.eccentricengineering.com.au/

For shimming yeah i just use a set of $10 feeler gauges to pack it up, i use the center in the tailstock as a guide to getting it right. Though if you have a quick change toolpost you dont need to shim them.

You can adjust the height of the HSS in the eccentric engineering toolholder so no need to shim that up either. Tis why i like it even more Razz

I have a piece of 3mm MDF that has compressed to 2.5mm and seems to be the holy grain of shims in my lathe box.

It would be best to not plasma cut the holes then try and drill them after.
just leave it blank then drill it.

That tool is nice, what was the finish like on that pass?

it looks good.
But when the head moves it sounds like it needs an adjustment or is it the belt making the noise.

to me it sounds like something is a little tight or belt rubbing on a side wall of drive / spindle wheel. but could be the recording.

yeah the Y axis reduction drive belt is falling apart and rubbing on stuff.
It came with a box of spare bits, and I think there's a belt in there Smile
