They are the ones the Nsw guys use in beetles the are pretty tiny and gears/bushings are a bit fragile but seem to work pretty well for the price. _________________ Steven Martin

I found it was easier and slighlty cheaper to order the 1000rpm gearmotors directly from Virtual Village's website
They come in packs of two. I havent broken a gearbox yet but the screws holding them to the motor need loctite and the motor can must be supported for long life. (i've taken to mounting the pair in a tube.)
FYI they come with a 4mm diameter shaft with a flat section and the shaft protrudes about 12mm from the bushing which is 6-7mm dia and protrudes about 2mm from the face of the gearbox casing which is diameter 25mm overall and the motor can is diameter 24mm
Glen makes some nice hubs for these, i suggest you take him up on whatever deal he makes! _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Hi guys
Thanks for the beetle info. We will definitely order some Hubs Glen!!
We were very excited this morning, cause we decided to head down to the Browns Plains Smart-Tip. look at all the robot possibilities!!!
Didnt get this golf caddie motor...but it looked interesting!
possible weapons?
assorted motor mounts?
weird shit.
stuff for the workshop?
the biggest bolt cutters Ive ever seen
me with a fist full of drills
heavy weight? It even has a tail.
boxes full of weird stuff
We were on a tight budget as usual but we got....
5 cordless drills (2x12volts,1x7.2volt, 1x9volt and 1x 14v)-All working
a auto radiator fan- working -could be a good spinner weapon motor?
round BBQ plate...thinking of a fierce weapon or robot base plate?
a roll of wire...... always handy
Some metal offcuts. The little one is 25mm (thats what i needed for Wombot's drive arm two weeks ago!)
Super 8 projector......Sort of working will have to do some fiddling
-devo looking doctors style bag.
-assorted kitchenware
-nice picnic basket
It was a whole shopping trolly full of stuff.
all for $35.00
They reckon its the biggest recycling place in the southern hemisphere! The trick is to get there early friday morning. we rocked up about 10am and there were hundreds of people! It was great ....and very hot! looking forward to seeing what our new stuff can be used for.
Anything like this near you guys? Also how do I tell what the rpm of drills is?

Yeah there would have to be other big recycling places around.
Hey one of these drills(the b&D 14.4volt) Has bigger holes going to its gearbox. It gearbox is bigger to. Will need to get bigger grub screws. probably 6 or 7 mm. this might be the one for Wombots lifter!

The one on the right looks like a two speed maybe? Definitely a bigger and better one than the other on the left

Hi glen
yeah the exterior had better build quality to, being a name brand. Still a compact drill exterior(smaller than the xul 12v). I just tried a 1/4" bolt and it looks like a good fit. Will go see if Buntings has 1/4" grub screws in stock.

Just removed the old drill motor off Wombot's lifting arm. It is Hammered! It's lost a outer screw off its gearbox and its grub screws have been worn down half way.
The new $3 14v drill has 4 screws that hold the gearbox together (rather than the usual 3) It also only has 6 grub screw holes rather than 8. Will 3 grub screws do the job? _________________ Miles Blow - Julie Pitts

Should do as long as they're evenly spaced

The deal at this tip is, its $10 if you want to dump stuff....but if you have 30% recyclables you dump for free! ....and you put your recyclables in a separate area to the rubbish, then this goes to the shop. Thats wht this stuff is really cheap. Pretty cool hey!

Hey was chatting to a mate today who has done a bit of metal work. He was saying that rather than using mild steel on our robots we should use old bed frames...... because they are high tensile steel and right angle. Is that right? and do people use bed frames for their robots?

Hi guys
Whats it mean when your a123 battery is dead and you plug in into the accucel charger and it says "battery check.... low voltage"? It wont let me go past this in the menu.
EDIT- Oh if finally went to the next screen and is now charging maybe it was very dead!
