Ok so slowly starting to get this down. Main issue at the moment is getting the first layer height just spot on and that is still proving difficult.

Did a few prints @ 0.2mm layer height with slower speeds and things are looking pretty good. Printed some functional replacement parts which made me pretty happy so hopefully things can only get better.

Printer finally got a proper bed tonight.

Print area is now like 200mm x 200mm unfortunately extra weight has slowed me down a little again. Prints are now at typical prusa speeds. Bed is nice and flat just need to tweak the first layer height then we shall be able to get nice prints reliably.

Watching with Interest. I may be able to get a second hand XYZ robot from work and would be looking at a reprap as a possible use.

So are you looking at a kit?

It might be better to stay away from kits and just do everything yourself. Triffid's stuff on create3D.com.au is good place to start.

You will also need maker gear extruder I think is best to start out with.

Did you originally go with the kit, all them months (years?) ago ?

Have not fully looked into kit or not. With very limited tooling atm I would have to get much of it made by others anyway. The weekend will be full of research I suspect.[/list]

I bought a tech zone kit about a bit over a year ago. Huge mistake.

Not sure of any kits which are actually worth while. You can pretty much do it yourself from scratch but you need a few tools around. I just assembled my first child.

Im going to agree with Marto here, do not buy the techzone kit. It takes alot of stuffing around to get ready.

I may be convinced to print you a set of parts or sell on my child if you really want. The parts are definitely not perfect but they should be functional.
