after the hot tip kept pushing out of the teflon piece, I made a quick s/s insert to try to prevent that again.it also would have been done yesterday if the thread on the hot tip had been cut decent.

I noticed similar problems, try the black high temperature glue that came with the hot end. It should gum up the threads somewhat.

PrintRbot store went live today.

I reckon my printed parts look on par.

probably still has better tolerances then a lot of others. Not so sure it is poor design compensation with a hack, cable ties are cheap, will do an ok job and with the mass production these guys are doing atm the slop in the tolerances would decrease the time per cycle of lasercut parts. price point seams quite good compared to the more conventional reprap designs, They released from memory all the designs anyway so if that is your biggest problem with the design I am sure you could design one with a better mounting system and tighter tolerances on the moving Cartesian parts then if you want laser cut like their biggest one on the store (and i think the one aaron's pic is of) go take the modified design and get them cut local, The place angus was doing some stuff could be used. Other then cable times my biggest problem is with the x-axis in the picture, would have to examine it in more detail and while working



Ordering some RepRap gear when payday comes along Thursday, ATM to start thinking steppers and RAMPS (and other electronics) to start and complete it in 3 paychecks the next printed parts and hot end,
3rd, shafts, threaded rod, bots etc.


That or looking the printbot looks decent for the price, half tempted to wait and see what postage is like.

Well I have just got reprap back up and running after about 3 weeks of down time.

It has new electronics. Lets just say this is a massive win. It has gone from a complete pain to be in the room with from the stepper noise to "Damn that fans loud". Microstepping makes it very bearable to just leave running while I do other stuff.

With the new sanginololu electronics I have done pretty much 0 tweaking. It is printing slower but thats the trade off I have made for not tweaking it. Combined with triffids paper leveling trick it took very little effort to get it up and printing. I printed a set of pulleys with a thick layer setting straight up. They are not as good as ones I made with 0.1mm layers (I used 0.4mm layers) but I bet if I was willing to wait @ 0.1mm it would be even better.

Hopefully this means lots of printing with minimal fuss in my future.

The one last dodgy part on there broke grrrr. Taking a few more days off will mill up a replacement tomorrow.

So pretty happy with the result. Still the list of tweaking goes on.

I have not fitted heated bed yet which I would like to. Along with a glass plate which is nice and flat.

Only other thing I need to tweak is the printing temp. And could probably tightened the belts a little but otherwise its pretty sweet.

Tomorrow nights job is to get back to doing ant kits.

Printed for 14hrs straight yesterday. Pretty well given up on speed but haven't had any failed parts and quality is looking pretty good.

Printed a 100 x100 square to calibrate my machine before calibration size was 99.74 and 99.45. So should be even better now. Just remotely started a print from Uni which should take quite a few hours to print and be there when I get home.
