As an update for whizzbee from the canberra comp, terrible! the base was too light and caused whizzbee to do some very strange dancing, when I finally did get it to spin up i ran into a wedge and sheared the 20mm 4140 shaft. whizzbee has been put in a box for the moment untill i can look at it again! _________________ Creative Instigation - Build Something Awesome!

as I rushed this build I was pretty slack with photos, build time was 3 days ready for our first local competition.
so here are some pretty photos
the drum
Biz 450 teeth welded to a tube, with dual race ball bearings
Wood Mockup
piece of hardox 450 I cut the frame out of
welding the frame up
halfway there
Drilled some holes for weight and to make it look pretty. using 2 shafts dead level with a shaft running through the middle let me balance it pretty well.
added some side plates for structural integrity (using a bimetal holes saw is how I cut holes into hardcox)
lightening the top cover
first fit up and it all seems to work
gave her a snazzy paint job
the bottom plate is removable for quick repairs
with the lid on
and in the arena with fishsticks dons daughters sportsman which help up quite well, considering shatta is a feather

Shatta Has had a bit of an upgrade. new 1500KV brushless inrunner (gets to 8k rpm now) moved the motor forward for better weight distro and to be able to fit a bigger battery. colsons instead of red wheels. _________________ Creative Instigation - Build Something Awesome!
