George has invited everyone to a bring your bot/pop builders get-together at his place in a few weeks.
Once he gets his forum log in password he can fine tune fill everyone in on that.
Otherwise good to catch up with the old crew and meet the newcomers.
Couple of posabilitys wait and see.
Rob and I took Pyro as flamethrowers were mentioned and Bane 2 to demo a cheap entry level bot.
Do I hear groans about more vic thwack bots.
Sorry about that.
Got some practice with the Robot transporter before the Qld run.
Gass lockof filter blocked on way to Melbourne and tire flat when we came out of Sidetracked to go home. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.
Yes the nationals will be a bit of a reality check on the state of the art.
Sean wasn’t impressed when Rob told him we had upgraded Benders weapon motor from 250 to 400 watt, apparently you need 900watt brushless these days.
I had been thinking of hosting a back yard event and decided not to bother.
That’s when I decided to go to the nationals instead, Now it looks like there is a good chance some sort of feather sportsman activity happening. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.
Yeh game has changed a little in last 5yrs. For the better.
Sportsman is a something bit different which gives you opportunities to try things without worrying too much. I think its more of the way of the future for a few reasons. Thinking back to all the fights at vivid, most of them were good, which is a massive thing for an EO and putting on a show. It also has a much lower attrition rate so while not the same all out competition it goes on for longer.
Hopefully I can keep the public events flowing reasonably well next year unless I decide to do something different. Building something for 1 or 2 big events a year seems to be much more sustainable than doing backyard events every month which was fun back in the day but unfortunately real life gets in the way.

Great to see some interest in Vic again.
Will be interesting to see how Bender goes after a few years out. I do like that it is not a brushless and is rather low power but should be very effective.
Overall a great turn out given the short notice. _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.
Hay Sean shush can’t you see I am just trying to lull them into a false sense of security.
Seriously I should of put a smiley on that other comment. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

Big thanks to everyone who turned up at Sidetracked on Saturday! I was thrilled about the turnout. If we can get one bot to every two people that showed up we'll have a pretty good gathering of bots to fight.

Hiya Rotwang. Is this still on the table? I'm still committing to memory all the names and faces I met at the meet and am not sure if I met George. Has he signed up here yet?
Thanks again to all who have expressed an interest I'll start up a thread for our backyard battles in the events forum when I hear back about George's offer
Just been too long since he commented so some issue logging on.
Didn’t notice you chatting with him but it was certainly hectic for a while there; old builders and new in a number of separate huddles in the corporate room.
Very upbeat and spontaneous.
Think he planed a BBQ _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.
