The Migration is now completed.

A bit of initial excitement as the cpanel copy initially went to the wrong address, leaving an empty server, but the NetVirtue support guys were right on it, and so far everything looks good.

I havent moved the domain names servers across yet, so some of the sub-domains might point to the old server, Im editing them as I go.

Be interesting to see if the topic notifications emails spring back to life, or whether some more futzing will be required. Someone let me know please.

The new server might even be faster, with an SSD and a dedicated (not shared) SQL server. Probably be hard to tell, the old one was pretty good despite being many years old.

Anyone notices anything awry, please let me know Smile

regards
Brett

Cool, lets hope they continue Smile

Ive noticed my inbox this morning seems to have both more good stuff and less junk in it that it did with Uber, so hopefully the mail servers are running better at the new host - and that will fix the alerts problem permanently.

Thye used to be ok back when they were AussieHQ, and even more ok before that when they were hosting shop. But since they became Uber, its gone downhill in a big way.

I had to call Ubers support guys yesterday to change the TTL on the DNS, prior to the move and I ended up talking to a Malaysian call-center-bot who was friendly but had no idea what I was talking about, had to call a 2nd level tech, and was in a room stuffed with so many other call center droids, you could barely hear her over the hubbubb.

The NetVirtue techs called *me after an online chat, were local and knew exactly what they were doing.. Thats what Hosting Shop used to be like. Hopefully NetVirtue doesnt go the same way a few years down the road
