Radio review: TGY-i4X

I also bought one of these because HobbyKing were out of the HK-T6A:
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/fs-i4x-4ch-radio-mode-2.html

It has a built-in V-Tail mix option, and after taking the back off and switching a jumper around (change stick mode from Mode 1 to Mode 2 or something) I had it controlling a pair of skid steer motors correctly off the left stick, with the right stick for weapons.

However, it turns out this radio is no good for robots because the receiver has no failsafe. If you turn off the transmitter the receiver just keeps driving the motors according to their last position. I tried rebinding etc but it looks like there really is no failsafe on the transmitter.

In summary, this radio is no good for robots.

Hmm, we got one of these just this week. Will have to take a look at the failsafing. Its a fantastic quality radio compared to the older style T6 radio.

Let me know if you find a magical way to get the receiver to failsafe.

Update: I got me a TGY-iA6 receiver and successfully bound it to this transmitter. The TGY-iA6 does failsafe correctly.
