Yes i have been practicing welding lots and have got pretty good alltho i do the odd crap weld when the gal spatters or i cant get the rod in on the right angle cos theres bars in the way.
The black mess here and there is just me tapping the rod to break some flux off so i can strike it when i grab a new rod.
Edit now Team Reaper following the latest robot and decided on a better team name that made more sense. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

Well found my scales have been giving me dodgy readings meaning the frame weighs more then the scales have been telling me FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Which means im prob going to have to remake the frame with lighter thinner steel GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

I need to shed at least a kg.
At least i can re do some of the parts better as i have some weight saving ideas i only thought of while building the first versions frame that i would have done in the second version.
Owell off to buy a good set of scales. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

At first it was a pain in the ass that the frame was going to end up overweight but i see it as a positive learning curb.
First off tinkering around and playing with ideas gives me something to do rather then doing nothing and quietly going insane even if all that time went on building something that may not have worked i still got in some welding practice.
Secondly the frame was very very solid perhaps overkill solid and the more i look at it the more i see ideas on how to save weight and re design the frame to keep strength but reduce mass.
The ideas i have in mind should at least shave off 1.5kgs and create places to drill and bolt the top plate to.
I'm the sort of person who learns from mistakes and learns from hands on experience better then just drawing up something. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

Made a start on the new frame today its up to the same stage as the last and is 2kg lighter.
LOL i hate welding 2mm steel as the first frame was 3.5 it was a breez to weld and my welds were 8\10 but the new frame is more like 6\10
All good tho nothing some grinding and paint wont hide
Also got my laser rev counter today $20 posted off ebay same as the $80 in jaycar so ill measure those 18v 550's i found on ebay soon. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

Scorpion hk-30.
Ill soon be starting on icu2 as well which will have a hk-40 but need to sort out a beater.
Edit.
Thought i would ad that reaper is currently 8.9kgs with only the weapon motor mount pulleys belt and lid not incl in the weight.
Since i have plenty of spare weight might ad some extra support bits here and there and may weld on some bits for looks. _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

DROOL comes in fancy wooden box infared programming and has all sealed heatsink and is a bit more compact then the sentilon.
Don't know what the jiggy on the pos power wire is "it comes part with a plug in the middle"

Well should pick up the bearings i need for reaper tomorrow and hopefully get some work done this sunday as i work saterdays.
Glen informs me the thing on the power wire is a pre charge resistor to pre charge the caps before use which means im going to have to fart round everytime i turn the bot on and off funny how the instructions don't say anything about it.
Might have to rig up a button to pre charge then turn on the bot or something _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

Did you tweak up the color in those photos or is my monitor just too bright ?
That carpet and all those wire/frame/wheel colors are amazing. you should wrap the thing in polycarb and leave it see through ! _________________ Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people
