everybody will just have to have name servers and domains or something.
jakespc.vapourforge.com
kinda thing
all done automagically by your firewall.
Thats going to be the tricky part.

dammit i want IPv6 now.
make networking "interesting"
no NAT = no firewall for most people.

Yeah, well IPv6 doesn't work through my crappe router, so I'm restricted till I either ditch the router and buy one that supports IPv6 forwarding, or build my own Razz

I think a P3-M on a mini-compatible mobo with only a heatsink and a pair of baby 40mm fans and put it all inside a lunch box, use an IDE->SD card adaptor and install IPCop on a 1Gb SD card Smile Lunch Box Router! Or I'll look at putting a router into that spare UPS I have Cool Rogue Router!

ipcop dosent know about ipv6 either.
perhaps pfsense might, its pretty hardcore (better in some ways than ipcop, but the "installed base" is smaller so there are fewer addons, at least last time i looked)

untill ISP's start supporting it theres not much point.
Both networks need to run side by side for a while.

Very true about the IPv6 compatibility, it's kinda like 64bit computing. I still like the idea of a lunch box or rogue router though Cool

For those that haven't tried vista in any shape or form yet, I thought id post a picture of something I forgot to mention, vista actually does proper RAM management ! Disk cache and all. Way better than XP's "yes, ill use a gig of your ram, then just neglect that the rest exists"

http://www.ffej.net/shit/vista.png

The resource monitor (marked in red) is pretty cool too.

BTW, Glen . . . did I mention I was good? No more bitching about Capital or ACT now . . . well, there still shit, but at least there fast shit lol
