Yes, I did it.. it was me.. Smile

After warning everyone and getting ignored, I decided to wave my moderators stick and just erase the whole thing.

Religious flamewars are fine, in their designated area.. but let them out and its kind of like letting flamethrowers operate outside of an arena.. innocent people get burnt..

On that topic, is it just me, or does it seem like a lot of people (not everyone, but me included) have been a bit short tempered on the forum recently ?

I recall seeing the idea of a "newbie area" on other forums where newcomers were ensured that they could ask as many dumb questions as they liked and wouldnt get flamed.

Experienced, but Bad Tempered vets (who were tired of answering the same questions over and over again) were told to keep out, and leave the patient gentler souls (who wouldnt answer questions with a snarl about using the search button) to help get the newbies on their feet.

Seemed like a good idea, I can understand some people get tired of seeing the same questions arise over and over again, but everyones a n00b at some stage.

I have no problems with newcomers, don't get me wrong Razz I just hate newcomers who walk in and say "I want to build tracked bots, tell me how" and when you advise them they say "No, it's got to be done my way or it won't work"

To me, if a newcomer cannot help themselves by listening to advice then why should we waste our time helping them...

I also can't say me bashing n00bs around the head with a keyboard was caused by me having a bad week, because in all honestly, I had a great week (Been visiting my girlfriend you see...), the only thing that wrecked it was n00bs Rolling Eyes

I would like to see newcomers because I would like to see robot combat become more popular.

I am sure that I asked many questions that had already been answered many times before I built my first bot. Experienced roboteers took the time to answer my stupid questions.

We need to accommodate newcomers if we want to see our hobby grow.
