Just thinkin what about some lego. If you superglue the parts together it could work fairly well. Might be a bit expensive thou. Lego motors are 9.6v

We just finnished the new weapon motor mount for PQ and its about half the size of the old one and still made of chopping boards. Its spun up fine with out the dome on top, so we bolted it on and gave it a go. Now here's the bit to be scared about, IT WORKED . But it was a little unbalanced. Unfact we had the base in the vice on the work bench and both of us hanging onto the axial out the top of the robot and it was still walking the bench across the floor. I wonder what it be like when it reaches 3000rpm.

With the dome

Nope. It makes a handy hub for the dome. I think that hub is out of one of Hellbringer 3's wheels.

Work done this week on PQ:

Added two (2) cordless drill motors/gearboxes for the drive. I have them mounted at 45 degrees like in mental but have just stuck a couple of rubber door stoppers on the output shafts for wheels. Top speed = 5km/hr.

Added battery mount to side of EV mount.

Added weapon solenoid to other side of EV mount.

Speedos mounted on polyethelene and strapped to drive motors.

Radio receiver heaped on top for testing of drive train.

Photo added to photo gallery.

wow, thats insanely funky looking i must say

Make sure everything is robusy and not your usual building techniques of ducktapeing recievers and that crap please.

I would hate for something to come loose at full speed and get torn to shred like a controller/nicad pack by the shell or something.

Since is also Scarifiers thread I'll put a post up about it as well. I did enough work on the claw today to give it a test run. Its the worst welding job ever, but it works.

With the claw down:

With the claw up, holding onto a VCR:

What ever happened to owning a good looking robot.

It was stalling with the 5kg VCR till we oiled the threaded rod. Now I just need to find something thats 12kg. PQ is the wrong shape to grab hold of.

Jeez, it looks terrible in that first photo. Every thing lines up until I start welding. At least I can only get better because I can't get much worse.
