Jamming drill clutches.. what works apart from grub screws?
Hmm ok, I've been hardpressed to find any grub screws recently so thought I could jam my gearboxes with wire sheith material, and *squish* it behind the metal ring and the mounts. Worked for a while, but it starts to slip... not good with 1 week left before the comp!
What other methods have people tried that work? I'm hedging my bets that I won't be able to find any grub screws... and no, I live no where near a bunnings. _________________ ( •_•)

If you can wait until the event, I can give you enough grub screws to do the trick. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

That may be leaving it a little late...
I'll have to see, that might be the case.
The other ideas are good, but I can't use normal bolts because the mounts are already mounted.
There's gotta be somewhere in the city I can go. _________________ ( •_•)

Just find some soft steel threaded screws/bolts that fit .Cut a few pieces about 5 to 6 mm long then cut a slot in the end of them with a hacksaw use another screw /bolt with the same thread to tap the hole in the gear box first then use a small screwdriver and inset your home made grub screws.. Most of my gear boxes are done this way or use a bit of threaded rod i just cant rember the size needed .I also use silastic around the inside of the ring gear but you have to be careful to get it centered and not to get any silastic on the gear splines .

i have found that putting more bearings into it then pressing with the little plate thingy (i havent pulled a gearbox apart in ages)works rather nicely, ive been running the same engines for a while now with this set up(think when i first started) and i havent had a problem once _________________ For West ausies interested in robotics email me at: theoneshrug@hotmail.com
