I guess my 150mm micro 4/3rds lens is going to to need some major help to get a shot like that _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Don't worry, I had decades to try that out, so its not likely I will need a super long lens for some time yet. I also found a pretty cheap 300mm mirror lens with a 4/3rds mount if I need a super tele lens one day. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Here is the best reason you don't need to feel bad - it turns out that buying a whole new lens is cheaper than buying an adapter from Nikon F to micro 4/3rds
This Bower 300mm / F6.3 mirror lens is just $55.03 on Amazon, with $9.50 postage. It normally sells for around $250 to $300 and for that kind of discount I grabbed one quick! _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

thanks dude...yep i think the best look for filming the moon is to under exposed it in camera so you can see al the detail….then apply auto brightness ad contrast in photo shop…that worked for this test anyway. _________________ Miles Blow - Julie Pitts

Well it worked. When taking a photo of the moon remember to avoid a full moon if you wish to see detail as your best detail and shadows are near the interface.
Wish I could take photos 1/10th as good as you guys _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.

I been building this partly 3d printed partly aluminium animation motor. It does 1-3 second exposures and has a nice new frame counter curtisy of ebay. I'm using a reed switch to stop the geared 15prm motor each frame. The reed switch is both a normally open and normally closed switch.
So NC is used to stop the motor after each exposure and NO is used to trigger the frame counter.
It's a Fujinon-TV Zoom C10x16A 1.8/16-160mm, so designed for a 1" sensor and the camera system it was designed for had the sensor a fair ways back from the lens, as far as I can guess roughly 100mm.
Zoom is a little sticky but I think it will free up - glass is perfect too despite a ding on the metal (it weighs a tonne).
SO the plan is to get an extension tube, I 'believe' it's an M42 mount but could easily be wrong - then adapt that to my Nikon D5300 through an F mount.
Also, due to it being so heavy I'll need to make up some kind of crazy mounting system for it and the camera so the camera experiences no front load - gonna be funs! _________________ ( •_•)

Score..Yep that should work. I haven't ever used a m42 to f mount. But it looks like it should work. You could always pop the lens off you slr and hold the new lens in front and see if you get a clear image in the view finder.
You will have to use it in manual mode as the camera wont be able to adjust the lens aperture or focus.. _________________ Miles Blow - Julie Pitts

Should be fine, I've used M42 to F mounts with extension tubes before (to get crazy macro focus) on smaller lenses. Once you get in the ballpark you should be able to focus, fine tuning it might be tricky with fixed extension sizes but you should at least be able to get a useable range. _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam
