These are the same style as Aaron used in Farm Boy at Vivid.
We have decided to sell off our sample units at cost price for a few reasons.
- To gauge interest
- To give people some decent gear motors
- To allow more extensive testing in combat environments.
There is very limited numbers and this is COST price. These motors have worked pretty well in testing but the cost point is too high to allow us to sell them at a profit. (AUD doesn't help either) Particularly when most people are using $10 recycled drills.
There is also a few things which we would like to do differently but our efforts to deal with Mr WANG have basically ended up with us holding a Paypal dispute over him until he actually sent us something. Although probably better the Eliis @ Ranglebox who now has his custom motors appearing all over the world.
We this point in time we have decided not to sell any other gearmotors we may still do it in the future but recouping some of our costs from buying samples is the first step towards this.
The ESCs can be programmed for cutoff voltage through the programmer box. Gearboxes are 18V Nominal.... aaron? _________________ Steven Martin

I see you can select low medium high. so medium i can see is 3v which i guess should be ok for a123.
Ah it's cuttoff battery voltage. 0.1V increments. You can pick whatever you want.
I made a custom programmer box too. It just never got documented properly
You can also drive ESCs through a serial protocol with indexing. So you can just use or pin but that is another undocumented feature. Nobody has ever asked.

Your site shows 4 available BotBitz GM45 16:1 gearmotors. Is this still correct?
I want to get 4 of the same ratio to make a four wheel drive robot. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

So for those who didn't notice post nationals BotBitz.com closed up for a short period of time. Since then I am now running with Botbitz on my own and will potentially be making a few changes to let me continue to provide goods into the future.
As everyone has noticed over the last few years the price of our ESCs has been slowly creeping up. While they are proven ESCs it is getting to the point where there are other solutions out there which can meet our needs at lower prices and I don't see the current line of ESCs being competitive for the long term. This is due to the amount of manual work which goes into modifying the ESCs, the double shipping around the world, HK increasing their price margins and crappy AUD.
For the moment and foreseeable future the current range of BotBitz products will remain available but I am actively seeking alternatives to reduce costs and my handling. I am also hopefully getting a few new projects off the ground as I should have more time early next year. (Such as the wifi RX which is currently reached Beta testing)
Other changes which will likely be happening
- Making BotBitz an official business rather than a hobby
- Developing a range of tutorials and kits
- Workshops for children and aldults
- Running our own (hopefully profitable) robot events
So these are all ideas and hopefully some of them will happen in 2016.
