Hopefully Rob, Matt and I will get there with a feather each.
Only certainty is Bender; can’t miss a chance of getting a shot of Flexo and Bender together.
The new MiniMower is a POP so Rob might bring Badger and I can be the blocker with Bane or Rat. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

No, only mine!
I havn`t checked the official rules yet but I believe we need remotely ignited and extinguishable pilot light, not like Borts " flaming cauldron of alcohol" Would that be correct? Also, no liquids though the butane cartridges seem to be ok as the liquid vaporises almost instantly.
Just sensible and safe construction and usage. I was thinking restricting flames to 3-4 second bursts before repositioning so we don`t just roast a bot stuck in a corner or set the arena alight.
P.S; The arena walls are 40cm high

jah as long as you can remotely turn it on and off, or they dont require any "excessive cleanup" i think there alright _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

From the rule book. Blue bits are what I've added.
quote:
13.2. The subsequent rules in this section apply when heat and fire
are allowed. Flame weapon rules are subject
to change to comply with local fire regulations and fire officials.
13.2.1. Fuel must exit the robot and be ignited as a gas.
Actaully this doesn't
get enforced when using butane/propane.
It cannot leave the
robot in a liquid or gelled form or use oxidizers.
13.2.2. Fuel types allowed are propane and butane, the maximum quantity
allowed is 4 fl oz in robots up to 30 lbs, 8 fl oz for robots 60 lbs and above.
The smallest cartriges I have found at camping and hardware shops work out to be 6 fl oz.
13.2.3. The fuel tank must be as far from the outer armor of the robot as
practicable and be protected from heat sources within the robot.
13.2.4. The ignition system must have a remotely operated shut-off that
allows the operator to disable it using the radio control system.

Doesn't matter. As long as its butane, propane or a mix of the two.

atomised petrol/etc is a liquid
You could probably say that only things that are a gas at STP (standard temperature and pressure) are allowed. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

No pilot light, No large BBQ propane bottle and protect the gas tank! Anyone would think you were afraid of Fire Ant.
Pyrobot runs the common butane cans branded 220g. Remote gas valve and ignition and the can of gas is deep within the bot.
I will have plenty of Co2 if needed to extinguish the opposition. None of that messy dry powder.
Really I don’t think flame throwers are a very effective weapon its just that I like building different types of bots and they are good for entertainment value.
Sproing was just extremely vulnerable, combined with the lack of extinguisher etc but it has done well on you tube.
You can always tap out. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

Why rewrite what's already written?

because there are more things that are a gas than propane and butane? _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

why use what's been written if you can do it better? _________________ The Engine Whisperer
