But haven't had time. I have also played with the HK wifi RX too. But for $4 would be interesting as you could integrate directly with ESC and also with any android or iphone device.
Ok Fine! Once I get an address I will get one. Lol
It seems to be able to connect to a wifi network but there is 0 documentation I have seen which tells you how to set it up as an AP which would be the desired configuration. This is all with its standard firmware. I will stick to trying to get the BLE module working I think for the moment as this is looking like the not good sort of interesting.
There is a SDK for it a vm lubuntu image and apparently the documentation is getting better re: translation from chinese to english. I have a fair amount of info so far, this helped http://hackaday.com/2014/10/25/an-sdk-for-the-esp8266-wifi-chip/ -->insert the take my money meme<--

The above link should give you a fair idea of where it's at, if I can get one to work it will probably end up being a wifi temp sensor setup 5m away lol, easy too, I think someone already has done it, in it for the lesson.

Are we going to see a TZ85 with serial input of some kind in the future? _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

Interesting.
That wifi chip + serial ESC is something I have been looking for, for a while in the sub eleventy jillion dollar price range.
now to bust out some open CV learning and probably get a new laptop lol. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets
If you can setup the Wifi with firmware to just be an AP and send serial commands you can drive multiple ESCs off one serial line.
You need the programming tool but you can program each one with a separate ID and then you just send a packet structure (which I would have to look at the code to remember) to the ESC.
I figured I'd just put an avr in the bot, and probably run the bot as a device with a laptop running as an AP.
I haven't looked into that chip in any more detail than the hack a day article. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

Valen doesn't the chip have a programmable microcontoller onboard already? so if someone with enough brain cells gets on it we could have a $5 receiver that connects to a pc and run the bot from a game controller.
